Mobile Admin architecture

The following illustration shows how Mobile Admin connects your wireless device to your network.

Mobile Admin Server is connected to the servers and computers that you want to manage with Mobile Admin, preferably through a Virtual Private Network (VPN), which encrypts network data. If you configure Mobile Admin to use HTTPS, Mobile Admin Server encrypts the data and sends it through the Internet and the wireless network to the wireless device. Mobile Admin Client decrypts the data on the wireless device so that it can be viewed.

Similarly, Mobile Admin Client commands from the wireless device can be encrypted with HTTPS then sent through the wireless network and the Internet. Mobile Admin Server decrypts the commands (if required) and performs the requested actions.

If you are not using a VPN, it is strongly recommended that you configure Mobile Admin to use HTTPS.
